BugTrap is the bug-reporting service at bugtrap.app. Jeenie Workspaces LLC operates the service and does business as BugTrap. This page describes what the service stores. It covers workspace accounts, reports filed through the widget, and reports filed from the Chrome extension.

Accounts

When you create a workspace, BugTrap stores your name, email, and workspace name. A team invite stores the invited email. There is no self-serve way to delete an account or export it. To ask, write to admin@bugtrap.app.

Bug reports

A report can include a title, description, the reporter's name and email, the page URL, and any custom data passed in with it. A report filed through the widget also includes a screenshot of the page, a drawing on that screenshot, a short session replay, recent console lines, and recent network requests. The screenshot is a picture of the page, so anything visible on screen is captured. If the reporter picks an element, the report also includes that element's HTML and the CSS that applied to it. Form values in that HTML are cleared. Typed passwords are masked in the replay, and authorization headers and password fields in network requests are redacted.

Anyone with the link can open a screenshot, annotation, replay, console log, or network log. Workspace members can open the same files from the dashboard.

Chrome extension

The Chrome extension files a report from a page you choose. The workspace API key is saved in that browser and is not synced to other devices. It is sent to BugTrap only to load the form for that workspace and to file a report.

The extension does not run on a page until you click its icon or use its shortcut. That captures the visible tab, the page address, the page title, and browser details such as language, viewport, and time zone. You can draw on the screenshot before sending. Closing the form sends nothing. The extension does not record a session replay, a console log, or network requests, and it has no analytics of its own.

A screenshot is a picture of the page, so anything visible in the tab is included.

Billing

Subscriptions are billed by Stripe. Card numbers stay with Stripe.

Asana

If you connect Asana, each new bug is sent to the selected Asana project, including the screenshot. Asana then holds that copy under your Asana account.

Product analytics

Mixpanel receives account events such as signup, login, and workspace actions, along with the account email and name.

Google Analytics receives page views on bugtrap.app.

The public demo

A signed-out visit to the demo walks through the widget and does not save a report. A signed-in member using the demo files into their own workspace.

The terms describe the subscription and how the widget may be used. Questions about this policy can be sent to admin@bugtrap.app.
